Ellesmere Port RFC and Rees Developments Appoint New Head Coach

Rees Developments boss Vincent Rees is delighted that Ellesmere Port RFC, sponsored by the company, has appointed a high profile head coach.

New coach Steve Dorrington, 47, from Ellesmere Port, is determined to see the club build on its growing success following last season’s promotion to Division Two of the South Lancashire/Cheshire League.

Vincent said: “Steve is an amazing appointment and comes to us with the most amazing credentials which will help us build on last season’s success.”

Steve’s skills and commitment have already won him numerous honours at both club and county level including winning the County Championship at Twickenham as both a player and coach. He’s also played 380 games for New Brighton 1st XV and was selected 20 times for Cheshire.

During the last 10 years he has coached New Brighton, was Director of Rugby at Chester and was also Cheshire County Coach.

Steve said: “My heart lies with Ellesmere Port because I played here for six months many years ago and it was here that I was spotted. It’s great to be back and I’m determined to build on the club’s success as well as working hard to bring on the younger players and spot the stars of the future.”

Rees Developments continues its commitment to the ‘Oilers’

AFTER the stunning success of Ellesmere Port RFC this year, Rees Developments is proud to announce continued sponsorship for the next season.

Owner and former player Vince Rees was delighted to see the team promoted to Division Two of the Lancashire/Cheshire and is determined to help them build on their success next season.

Lifelong rugby fan Vince said: “Being so busy with Rees Developments has meant I can’t commit to play rugby on a Saturday but sponsoring the club means I can stay closely involved

“It’s been a true pleasure to be associated with the club and to watch both the team and the individuals within it develop and grow.

“It’s so important to keep rugby clubs like the Oilers alive. Aside from having a brilliant team all of us in Ellesmere Port can be proud off, it provides a place where players of all standards – including young stars of the future – can train, play and enjoy a great sense of camaraderie.

“I wish the club the best of luck for 2012 and let’s hope both the club and Rees Developments can have an equally successful year next year.”
